Home Field
The Palm Beach Lacrosse Club is a men's post-collegiate club lacrosse team
that competes in the upper division of the Florida Lacrosse League (FLL).
Palm Beach has won the FLL championship title a total of nine times: in 1988
and eight consecutive years from 1996-2003. Our home field is located at the
Atlantic Community School in Delray Beach (the old Atlantic High School
location): 2501 Seacrest Boulevard, Delray Beach, Florida 33444-4392. Take I-
95 to Woolbright Road. Go east on Woolbright approximately one half mile to
the first traffic light at Seacrest Boulevard. Turn right (south) on Seacrest and
proceed about 2 miles to Atlantic Community School on your left. Enter at the
north entrance by the pool - fields are to the rear (east end) of the campus.
Palm Beach welcomes all players, regardless of skills and experience. Many of
our players and alumni are also coaches and referees in local for local
elementary, middle and high school lacrosse programs, and so are able to share
their experience and assist in the development of our players. Additionally,
current and former players are hold officer positions in both the US Lacrosse
South Florida Chapter and the Florida Lacrosse League.
Our season generally runs from mid-October until late March or early April.
The bulk of our games are played on Sundays; the FLL season normally runs
10 to 12 games. We usually begin practice in mid-October on Sunday
mornings from 11:00 to 1:00 at Atlantic Community School. Around
Thanksgiving, we add a Thursday night practice session 7:00 to 9:00 at
Atlantic Community School. We continue to have Sunday morning practices
on those dates that we do not have scheduled games.
We try to set our dues at a reasonable level to offset team expenses (field and
light fees, FLL dues, referee expenses, equipment expenses – mostly balls,
post-home game social events, etc.). Over the last several years, our dues
have been set at around $130, plus mandatory US Lacrosse membership.
Basic men's US Lacrosse membership costs $50 per year or $65 for a cross-
participant. US Lacrosse membership is mandatory for several reasons: it
provides secondary health insurance for players, liability insurance for the
team, and some of the dues money is allocated back to the local US Lacrosse
chapter. US Lacrosse membership benefits are detailed on the US Lacrosse
website (www.lacrosse.org). You can apply for US Lacrosse membership
directly on their website, or download an application for snail mail use.
In addition to our regular FLL season, and due to the involvement of our
players in the annual US Lacrosse / NCAA coaches convention, Palm Beach
Lacrosse often is able to pick up games against visiting NCAA teams who are
in Florida for Spring Break in March. In the past, we have played such NCAA
teams as Princeton, Loyola (MD), Harvard, Fairfield, Colgate and Ithaca
College.
